Welcome to the University of Missouri-Kansas City! Since arriving on campus in 2018, I’ve had the privilege of watching º£½ÇÂÛ̳ evolve into a national model for what a public urban research university can and should be: ambitious, innovative and deeply connected to the community.

We’ve made extraordinary progress with the help of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and partners across Kansas City. Together, we’ve improved student success across a wide range of backgrounds and expanded our impact through high-quality academic programs and growing research excellence.

We’ve also achieved Carnegie Research 1 status — placing us among the top 6% of research universities in the nation — and we’ve done it without losing sight of our mission to serve Kansas City and educate the next generation of physicians, nurses, lawyers, artists, executives and educators.

º£½ÇÂÛ̳ is an institution fueled by energy and purpose. We don’t limit ourselves to either/or thinking. We believe in both/and —  both academic excellence and social mobility, groundbreaking research and real-world impact, access and student achievement.

My guiding principle is that whatever we’re doing today, we should do it better tomorrow. That mindset, paired with a clear vision and a team of dedicated people, is how we build enduring excellence. I don't believe in chasing perfection for its own sake, but aiming higher each time. Not settling and always moving forward.
