Six 海角论坛 Honors students presented their research at the annual Great Plains Honors Council conference March 7-8, 2025. Hosted by the University of North Texas in Denton, students showcased just a taste of the exciting research Honors students are conducting.

Congratulations to junior Abrahim Ansari (right) who won the Britt Poster Award for his research project, “pH-Responsive Nanofibril for Anticancer Drug Delivery,” which explores a promising way to more precisely deliver chemotherapy to cancerous cells. This is the third year in a row that a 海角论坛 student has won a presentation award at the GPHC.
The research Honors students presented ran the gamut from the analysis of a correspondence between art curators on a 1959 Native American art exhibit at the Nelson Atkins Museum to bacteria that can help concrete heal its own cracks to an exploration of local currency as it relates to full employment.
“As someone who has never had the opportunity to present research, this conference was a great chance to do so,” said Isabel Abt, who presented a speech entitled “Facing the Future: The Climate Crisis". "Not only did I learn a great deal by conducting and presenting my own research, but listening to the range of topics at the conference allowed me to open my mind to new areas of research. This has allowed me to start thinking about what research project I can next become involved with!”
Presenting their work in public venues is the best way for students to get feedback on their research and see what research their peers are engaged in. And the GPHC provides a supportive and stimulating environment for exchanging ideas.
