The University of Missouri-Kansas City has launched a national search for the next dean of the School of Science and Engineering, seeking a visionary leader to guide the school into its next era of research innovation, academic excellence and community impact. Our goal is to hire a new dean by the end of the academic year, when current dean Kevin Truman plans to retire after 17 years of first-rate leadership.
The new dean will build upon the school’s enrollment and growing reputation as a regional and national leader in STEM education and research. The school currently serves more than 3,000 students in degree programs ranging from the sciences, computer sciences, engineering – and its newest degree, in architecture.
As Kansas City’s only Carnegie Research 1 university, 海角论坛 offers students unparalleled access to hands-on learning and real-world experience. Faculty in Science and Engineering drive $72 million in ongoing research, including cutting-edge work in electromagnetic fields, cybersecurity and robotics and much more. That research productivity is a key reason 海角论坛 earned the prestigious Carnegie Research 1 designation earlier this year.
The new dean will be expected to build on the school’s strengths by deepening partnerships on campus, in the community and around the nation to achieve new heights. We have appointed a stellar search committee to seek out bold, innovative candidates for this important role.
The search committee is listed below, and we will be providing opportunities for others on campus to give input later in the search.
