Starting September 29, we have a week of fun themes, team bonding and celebration to get you going!
Monday Sept 29 – Show appreciation to your colleagues by engaging in a departmental spirit day.
Examples include
- Select a departmental color to have everyone wear.
- Participate in a random act of kindness either within your department or outside.
- Set up a coffee and conversation date with your team.
- Arrange a pop-up snacks table. Bring in coffee, donuts, popcorn, pretzels, or chocolate to spread joy!
- Gather together for a community lunch. Outside or inside, it doesn't matter. Break bread with your team.
- If you are someone in leadership, send out an appreciation email or note to your team members.
- Get to know you activity. Have team members complete random questions or learn more about each other.
- Set up a dirty soda bar. Bring in 2-liters of all types of sodas and separate syrups to add unique flavors.
- Door decorations but make sure you follow these Door decoration guidelines.
Submit a picture and share it with umkchr@umkc.edu by 5pm Monday, Sept 29 to be entered into the drawing for a treat basket.
Tuesday Sept 30 – Has someone helped you out? Has someone shown excellent work? Let’s celebrate them! Recognize that individual by sending them a Roo Recognition.
Wednesday Oct 1 – How Bout Those Chiefs! KC, Baby! Let’s Go Royals! However you say it, let’s show our Kansas City pride! Wear your Kansas City attire. Submit a department picture that shows your pride and share it with umkchr@umkc.edu by 5pm Wednesday, Oct 1 to be entered into the drawing for a treat basket.
Thursday Oct 2 – Help us feed Roos in need! Bring in donations for the 海角论坛 Kangaroo Pantry. What donations are needed?
Submit a photo of your department’s donations to umkchr@umkc.edu by 5pm Thursday, Oct 2 for a chance to win a treat basket.
Once you've submitted your photo, your donations can go to the Kangaroo Pantry in Student Union 102 for the Volker location or the Kangaroo pantry on the first floor of the School of Medicine for the Health Sciences location.
Friday Oct 3 – Wear your best Roo Blue and Gold! The department that shows the most 海角论坛 spirit could win a treat basket. Submit your photo to umkchr@umkc.edu by 5pm Friday, Oct 3

- Dress according to the theme (optional but encouraged!)
- Share your moments! Submit a picture to umkchr@umkc.edu to enter the drawings
- More importantly, bring your enthusiasm – it’s all about building community and having a good time together!
