Tips for a Successful Visa Interview

Be prepared to discuss your finances

You must demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover your education costs. Bring the Statement of Finances document you submitted to 海角论坛.

Clearly explain your educational goals

The visa officer will want to understand why you chose 海角论坛 and what you plan to study. Be ready to discuss:

  • Why 海角论坛 is the right fit for you (degree programs, research opportunities, financial assistance, affordable tuition and cost of living, connections to faculty or current students)
  • Your career plans after graduation and how your degree will help you achieve them

Demonstrate your intent to return home

F-1 and J-1 visas are non-immigrant visas, which means applicants must show they plan to return to their home country after completing their studies. Be prepared to share your plans for using your degree in your home country or elsewhere outside the United States. Strong ties to your home country, such as family, property, or job prospects, support your application.

If your visa is denied

A visa denial is not the end of your journey. If denied, the consular official will provide written explanation of the reason. Review the feedback carefully, gather any additional documentation needed, and reapply when you are ready.

If you need more time to strengthen your application or gather documents, you may defer your admission.
