This page includes the two most common troubleshooting steps requested: Forgetting a wireless network and Finding your MAC address.
Forgetting Wireless Networks
- Click the Windows logo on the task bar
- Click the gear icon to open the "settings" menu
- On the left hand side of the menu choose "Network & internet"
- Click on "Wi-Fi" it take you to the next page
- Choose "Manage known networks"
- Find the network name you are searching for and click "Forget"
*NOTE: 海角论坛 issued devices are pre-configured and the option to "forget" will be grayed out and unable to perform this task
To forget a wireless network that you're currently using:
- Open the Apple menu (top left corner) → Click System Settings.
- Click the Wi-Fi tab in the sidebar.
- Click Details next to the network you're currently using.
- Click Forget This Network... then click Remove to confirm.
To forget a wireless network that you've joined before but aren't currently using:
- Open the Apple menu (top left corner)
- Click System Settings.
- Click the Wi-Fi tab in the sidebar.
- Scroll down on the right and click Advanced to see the networks known to your Mac.
- Click the more button next to the network, choose Remove From List, then click Remove to confirm.
- Open the Apple menu (top left corner) Click System Preferences.
- Click Network.
- Click the Wi-Fi tab in the sidebar.
- Click Advanced to see the networks known to your Mac.
- Select the network, then click the remove button (–) beneath the list. Click Remove to confirm.
- Click OK, then click Apply.
To forget a wireless network that you're currently using:
- Go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Tap the info button next to the network you're using.
- Tap Forget This Network, then tap Forget to confirm.
To forget a wireless network that you've joined before but aren't using
- Go to Settings → Wi-Fi
- Tap Edit in the corner of the screen to see the networks known to your device.
- Take either of these actions:
- Tap the delete button , then tap Delete.
- Tap the info button next to the network, tap Forget This Network, then tap Forget to confirm.
- From the home screen, choose Settings.
- In the settings menu, choose Wi-Fi.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi network to be removed, and then choose Forget.
Nintendo Switch
- Go to System Settings
- Select Internet
- Select Internet Settings.
- Select your current network under “Registered Networks."
- Select Delete Settings.
- Select Delete.
PlayStation 5
- Select Settings
- Select Network
- Select Set Up Internet Connection
- Locate the Wi-Fi network you would like to forget and press the Options button on your controller
- Select Forget in the pop-up window
Xbox X|S
- Select Settings
- Select the General tab
- Select Network settings.
- Select Forget wireless network
Finding Your MAC Address
- Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
- Click the network you would like to view the MAC address for.
- Click Details.
- The MAC address is listed under the Physical Address heading.
For advanced users:
- Right click Start/Windows Logo
- Click Run
- Type cmd and hit enter or click OK
- Type ipconfig /all and hit enter
- Find the "Ethernet Adapter" that includes an IP address
- The "Physical Address" is your 12-digit MAC and is formatted like: 00-1A-2B-3C-4D-5E
Or
- Right click Start/Windows Logo
- Click Run
- Type powershell and hit enter or click OK
- Type Get-NetAdapter and hit enter
- A table will appear and your MAC will be the one next to the status that says "Up"
- Select Apple menu (top-left) and click System Settings.
- Click Network.
- Click the desired network and then click Details.
- Click Hardware.
- The MAC address is listed below.
- Sign in to your Chromebook.
- Click the time (bottom right).
- Click Network (left).
- Click the network you would like to view the MAC address for.
- The MAC address is listed below.
- Open a terminal or console window.
- Type ifconfig.
- The MAC address is listed as HWaddr in the format of 12:34:56:78:AB.
Device MAC
- From Home, tap Menu > Settings > About Phone/Device.
- Tap either Status or Hardware Information.
- Scroll down to WiFi MAC address.
Wireless Connection MAC
- From Home, tap Menu > Settings > Connections.
- Tap the Wi-Fi connection name.
- Tap the gear for the current network.
- Tap View More.
- Scroll down to MAC Address.
Note: Field names may vary depending on your phone's manufacturer.
Device MAC
- Tap Settings > General > About.
- Scroll down to Wi-Fi Address.
Wireless Connection MAC
- Tap Settings > Wi-Fi > then tap the i next to your wireless network.
- Scroll down to Wi-Fi Address.
