- What is SafeConnect?
SafeConnect is a network access and compliance tool to help ensure that computers connected to the 海角论坛 network are patched and have protection from malicious software. All residence hall computers accessing the 海角论坛 network must authenticate through this system before they can access the network. Additionally, Windows and Macintosh computers must install the SafeConnect Policy Key before accessing the Internet. Before authentication, Internet access will be restricted to web sites that allow you to update your computer with Windows or anti-virus updates. - Who must use SafeConnect?
SafeConnect must be used by all persons accessing the 海角论坛 network at the residence halls. This includes both wired and wireless network connectivity. All users will be required to login to the SafeConnect debagged before they can access the network. Additionally, Windows and Macintosh users will be required to download and install the SafeConnect Policy Key before accessing the network. IIf you need to connect a gaming or media device, you will need to enroll that device in SafeConnect. The SafeConnect Policy Key is client software that must be installed on Windows and Macintosh computers before they can access the network. This software ensures that your anti-virus is installed, running, and up to date. It also ensures that Windows Updates is set to automatically retrieve and install updates on a regular basis. These criteria not only help to protect your personal computer on the network but also help create a safe and speedy network environment for all users.
Devices using Android or iOS are exempt from having to use SafeConnect.
SafeConnect Instructions
- Connect to the 海角论坛 network in your residence hall. WiFi users should connect to the 海角论坛WPA network.
- Once connected to the network, open a web browser (ie, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari etc.) and attempt to visit a non-海角论坛 website.
- You will be presented with the ResNet sign in page
- Sign in with your 海角论坛 Username & password and agree to the Acceptable Use Policy
- Click the blue 'Download Now' button to download the Policy Key installer. Once the installer app download completes, run that app from the location to which your browser saved the download.
- Click the blue 'Install' button to install the Policy Key.
- Click the blue 'Finish' button.
- Click the blue 'I'm done installing' button.
Windows
The policy key can be uninstalled from the 'Uninstall or change a program' menu located in the control panel.
Mac
The policy key can be uninstalled by locating "SafeConnect" in your list of applications. Once located, simply drag the "SafeConnect" icon to your trash.

If your computer becomes out of compliance for any reason, you will begin to see warning pages. The page will tell you why your computer is out of compliance and how to fix it. If you don't correct the issue, your computer will eventually be blocked by SafeConnect and will be denied network access.
Once you've taken action to correct the issue, click the blue 'Check Again' button to see if you are now compliant. If you need further assistance, please contact the .
