Faculty and Staff Permits

Employee permit areas are located throughout both the Volker and Health Sciences campuses and are indicated in red on the campus map. Faculty/staff permits may be ordered online or at the Parking Operations Office, 5115 Oak St., Suite 221.

During the Summer of 2025, 海角论坛 is transitioning to virtual parking permits. By the start of the Fall 2025 semester, hangtag permits will no longer be mailed, or required.  Also, temporary permits will no longer be required to be printed or displayed. With the implementation of virtual parking permits, there will be no more lost permits, and no lost permit replacement fees.  Vehicles will be required to park with their license plate facing the driving lane.

Full-time Employees

Most faculty and staff members purchase a 海角论坛 parking permit while employed with the university, although an employee may choose to park and pay at the meters, or to find off-campus parking.

Cost

The monthly fee for employee parking is determined by their annual base salary as of June 1 each year and where their salary falls within the five-tier scale below. The monthly fee will be determined each time a new permit is ordered, or in the case of a continuous permit the monthly rate will be reassessed on June 1 of each year.  Once the monthly rate is fixed, it will not be adjusted if there is a change in pay that occurs throughout the year. Any changes to payroll deductions for parking occur the first of June every year. The rate for new employees or employees who start their deduction throughout the year is based on their pay at the time they apply for a permit. The employee may choose to have the monthly fee paid by payroll deduction or by pre-paying for their permit. Payroll deduction is not offered to part-time employees, or those who have an appointment of less than a semester in duration.

Salary Range as of June Monthly Parking Fee
$0-$34,999 $42.19
$35,000-$46,999 $49.57
$47,000-$64,999 $54.86
$65,000-$99,999 $59.06
$100,000 and above $62.22

Full-time, regular employees may pay ahead for a permit by the month or semester or sign up to be payroll deducted for the cost of the permit.

  • To pay ahead, employees may go online to . Accurate license plate and vehicle information must be entered when the permit is ordered.  The license plate will serve as your parking permit.  Displaying a hangtag permit or temporary permit will not be required.
  • To sign up for payroll deduction, full-time employees may select the Payroll Deduction payment option when ordering their permit at .  The parking operations will email the requestor a payroll deduction authorization form, which must be completed and returned to complete the permit order.
  • Once an employee has signed up for parking, they will be issued a permit that will remain valid until the expiration date based on the permit type.
  • Continuous permits for faculty/staff paid by payroll deduction remain in effect until a cancelation request is sent to the Parking Operations Office, at parking@umkc.edu.
  • Permits that have not been set up for payroll deduction must be renewed by the employee. The employee can do this online via our website , or by visiting the Parking Operations Office.
  • Parking is not prorated for portions of the month. No refunds for parking permits will be issued.

Part-time Parking Permits

With the new virtual permit system, we are changing how part-time parking permits will be offered.  The new permit packs will offer a fixed number of one-day parking permits at a discounted rate.  One use from the permit pack will be deducted each day that our enforcement team scans an associated vehicle on campus.  These packs will not be restricted to 2 particular days each week, and will offer much greater flexibility for the users.

Valid Parking Areas

Vehicles displaying a valid 海角论坛 employee-parking permit can be parked in all permit areas on campus.

The faculty/staff parking hangtag is valid on any vehicle the employee drives but is not transferable to another individual.

Violations

Employees are subject to all 海角论坛 traffic and parking regulations. Parking violations must be appealed or paid within two weeks from the date of issue. Parking violations can be paid or placed on appeal online at . Tickets may not be available online until the day after the date of issue.
Failure to comply with any parking regulation will subject the offender to the sanctions set forth in the 海角论坛 Traffic Regulations. Parking violations must be appealed or paid within two weeks or a $5 penalty fee will be assessed.

Violations that remain unpaid for more than two weeks will be referred to the 海角论坛 Cashiers Office and the outstanding balance applied to your 海角论坛 employee ID account. Balances referred to the Cashiers Office can result in enrollment holds, transcript holds and suspension of charging privileges. Balances will be invoiced to your 海角论坛 assigned email address and may also be mailed to an address on file in the Pathway or HR system. Unpaid balances invoiced by the Cashiers Office are subject to additional monthly finance charges (1% of the balance) and monthly late fees ($25).

Permit Cancellation

  • If an employee wants to stop their payroll deduction for parking they must email the Parking Operations Office. If an employee fails to email a cancellation request, their payroll deduction will continue until the expiration date of the permit issued to them.
  • If an employee leaves the university without requesting cancellation of their parking permit and the payroll deduction for their parking ceases, the permit issued to them will be revoked and any vehicle displaying such permit will be subject to immobilization or towing. The vehicle may also be issued a $65 parking violation for attempting to circumvent the 海角论坛 Parking and Traffic Regulations.
